THe SuN in THe DoUgH: B+侦探 (The Detective 2)

I've recently just watched this movie called The Detective 2 or aka B+侦探. Ya, i know its kinda already quite late but I'm not that up to date bout Hong Kong movies. Here are some of the details of the movie before i elaborate further.

This movie is considered a sequel to the original story The Detective (C+偵探) back in year 2007. The genre is considered something like a mystery, thriller case solving type. I personally feel that the story was just okok which means it did not really amaze me.

The movie starts out by introducing a kid who had a tormented past. (not a very sad story but still...). Then 4 homocides were revealed consecutively showing clues reflecting the hatred and anger of the kid towards the people in his childhood. The boy's supposed sister told him that his mother found out about his father's scandal and the mother stab the father to death and later committed suicide. The boy was saved by the neighbours and that is how he became an orphan.

The story later revealed the main cast Aaron Kwok as the Private Investigator Chan operating in Thailand. P.I. Chan was not having a very good business as a PI and were having debts. His great buddy Inspector Fung Chak later offered him to be his information provider in return for a fixed salary. Since he needed the money, so he accepted the job and that is how he got involved in the case.

The first case: - A single man who died in his own apartment due to several stab wounds in his back and chest area. The police found a will which was suspected to be form his wife. The contents is as follows:- She married the bastard for more than twenty years and yet he is having a scandal behind my back. She thinks that there is no use for him to be still alive. She hates all men and she wants to die together with him. Police thinks its the wife who killed him. Suspicion 1 - is the killer a man or woman?

Second case: - A female victim who was sexually assaulted with a wooden stick. There were also signs that she was moved after she was murdered but like it was intended. Suspicion 2 - is the killer a legal enforcer and is he impotent/infertile?

Third case: - An along who was killed due to force trauma on the head. He was discovered later after his death. A jar containing a penis was later found and they discovered that the killer cut the victim's penis. Suspicion 3- what is the killers motive and is the 3 cases related?

Fourth case:- An 18 year old girl who was stabbed by a pencil and whose tongue was cut. Suspicion 4 - the killer may be a kid? If the 4 cases were related why there were different killer personalities?

PI chan later was inspired by the radio program and researched on Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Someone later threated PI chan to stop investigating and the same happened to his buddy, Fung Chak, only worse. Fung Chak advised Chan to stop investigating before the same thing happens to him but Chan insisted to find the culprit behind Fung chak's attack.

Chan later discovered more information after searching through Ling Ka Fai's belongings and found Ling Ho Yee, the suspected killer's supposed sister. After clarifying the facts, she turned out to be the suspected killer's mother. Chan finally understood everything. However, he was too late. Ka Fai had captured Fung Chak.

At the peak of the movie, Ka Fai was not sane and Chan could not do anything to stop him. Ka Fai held Fung Chak and a kind in captive with a gun to their heads. Fung Chak wanted Chan to help the kid and in the end, Ka Fai ended up shooting Fung chak in the head, CHan in the shoulder and later suicide by shooting himself.

There should be another sequel as the movie ended with Chan getting information about his long lost parents.

So, all in all, the suspense was not thrill enough and was not that shocking. The childhood story was also not very sad to begin with. So the movie did earn a ranking worth of its name a B+. Suffice to say, the movie got certain recognition most probably due to Aaron Kwok in the first place. But still, I don't think the acting part got to me either. I would not recommend anyone to watch this unless you have nothing else to do. LOL.
